Apart from the absolute high I am experiencing right now from being offered my dream job today, I am feeling great after a wholesome and affirming good ol' Bristol weekend. As I often do, I decided to sling my camera over my arm and take myself off for a 'photowalk' yesterday.

The weather was wild, but at times welcoming and beautiful, so I ran out doors with my Pentax to capture some of the splendour. I walked around the Redland area and also ventured up the length of Gloucester Road, taking in the magnificent trees, edgy street art and lovely architecture that makes Bristol such a special place.

And after receiving a text from my lovely housemate, I found myself over in St. Werburghs at a Wassail  – of all things!

In which Other UK city could you wander for 15-20 minutes only very slightly off the beaten track and find yourself at a wassail?! Complete with live folk music, a yummy BBQ and a spiritual blessing at a large tree (we slipped and slid on the mud as we tried to sing from damp song sheets), I danced in circles, tapped my feet and welcomed in the new year with the rest of the crowd. An enchanting afternoon and testament to what I love most about Bristol: always the possibility of the totally unexpected, and always the feeling of community.
